Botox is a drug that has been used for the treatment of wrinkles, frown lines, crows feet and other facial expressions for many years. It is an injectable toxin which blocks the nerve impulses that cause these muscles to contract. The effect lasts for around 3 months, but if you want to keep it you can use Botox regularly.

Botox treatment is usually carried out by a specialist. The injection is given in your upper arms or under your jaw line, but it can also be injected into your forehead, face and neck. The area to be treated will be numbed before the procedure and you may experience mild discomfort in the area of injection afterwards.

Botox is approved for use by the FDA for the prevention of migraines associated with daily life (like those associated with carpal tunnel syndrome) as well as migraine headaches that occur as part of an attack.

The recommended dose ranges from 0.25 to 2 units per side on each side of the face, which corresponds to up to 0.125 ml per side on each side of the face (1 unit equals 0.1 ml). The injection will be given once every four months for up to three treatments per year.

If you have had Botox treatment before then it can take up to six weeks before you notice any improvement. You should not try to stop having injections yourself as this may lead to unwanted side effects such as muscle weakness or paralysis of facial muscles.

Botox treatments are done with a series of injections into specific muscles or nerve pathways. These injections cause temporary paralysis of certain muscles that cause the expression of certain facial expressions.

The first few days after Botox treatment are crucial for improving the effectiveness of your treatment and helping you recover from the effects of the injection(s). You’ll want to avoid strenuous activity for at least 24 hours following any Botox injection. Also, do not rub your eyes or use any creams or ointments on your face until 48 hours after your last injection.

Before you get Botox, you need to make sure that you are prepared for the procedure. Here are a few things you should know about Botox treatment:

You need to be at least 18 years old.

You will need to have some form of identification, such as your social security card or driver’s license.

You may be asked to sign a consent form before undergoing the procedure.

It is best to let your doctor know if you take any medications or have allergies before getting Botox injections.

Your doctor may recommend that you wear loose clothing and no makeup before having Botox treatments performed on your face.
